THE HISTORICAL CITY CENTER OF COMO
For centuries Como has been a frequent tourist destination because of its charming
beauty. Como's old style buildings but modern city are modelled after the Roman
history of the city.
The landscape of hills surrounding Lake Como make this area a unique place to
visit.
The Medieval and Renaissance periods had a great impact on Como's culture and
historical development.
Important monuments such as: the gothic style Duomo, the Broletto, the plaza
and the church of San Fedele, the Civic Museum, the Basilica of S. Abbondio and
S. Carpoforo were created. Today in a more modern style we have new buildings
constructed by the famous architects Terragni and Santelia.
Walking along the Lake you will find many famous Villas including Villa Olmo
which hosts famous museum collections and art exhibitions.
